Medway Yacht Club – CoVid 19 Site Safe Working Guidelines for staff, sub-contractors and Members
(rev 27 11th March 2022)
- No person should attend the club whether a member of staff, a member, visitor, or contractor if they have symptoms as defined by the government guidance on COVID-19.
The main symptoms of COVID-19 are a recent onset of any of the following:
- a new continuous cough
- a high temperature
- a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)
If you have any of these symptoms you should order a PCR test. You are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people while you are waiting for the test result. You should also follow this advice if you have a positive lateral Flow test result, even if you do not have any symptoms.
Many people will no longer be infectious to others after 5 days. You may choose to take a Lateral Flow test from 5 days after your symptoms started (or the day your test was taken if you did not have symptoms) followed by another Lateral flow test the next day. If both these test results are negative, and you do not have a high temperature, the risk that you are still infectious is much lower and you can safely return to your normal routine.
If you live with, or have stayed overnight in the household of, someone who has COVID-19, you are advised to:
- minimise contact with the person who has COVID-19
- work from home if you are able to do so
- avoid contact with anyone you know who is at higher risk of becoming severely unwellif they are infected with COVID-19, especially those with a severely weakened immune system
- limit close contact with other people outside your household, especially in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces
- wear a well-fitting face coveringmade with multiple layers or a surgical face mask in crowded, enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces and where you are in close contact with other people
- pay close attention to the main symptoms of COVID-19. If you develop any of these symptoms, order a PCR test. You are advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people while you are waiting for your test result
- Follow this advice for 10 days after the day the person you live or stayed with symptoms started (or the day their test was taken if they did not have symptoms).
- It is advisable for members and staff, when entering the clubhouse for an event or function (where there is likely to be a large amount of people not from your household), to take a flow test before attending and again after.
- The latest published guidance from both the Government and RYA is that changing rooms and showers are considered to be high risk areas for virus transmission so members should act accordingly. Doors and windows will be left open to maximise ventilation.
- Rubbish should be placed in the bins provided. After using the bin, it is important that the member washes their hands or uses suitable sanitiser.
- Office – Members should knock before entering the office and stay behind the barrier unless invited come around the barrier for a specific reason. Please continue to pay using a contactless payment method where possible.
- Working indoors and meetings should be in well ventilated areas, or by telephone or video conferencing.
- The Bosun’s workshop will remain closed to . Use of commonly shared areas such as the Bosun’s shed should be restricted in the event that another person needs to enter or use this facility they must maintain 2m distancing from anyone else. Their hands should be washed / sanitised before and after entering the facility.
