Course: RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, Start Sailing Stage 4

Length of course: 2 days

Timings: 9:30am – 4:00pm

Location: Medway Yacht Club, Lower Upnor, Rochester, Kent, ME2 4XB

Who should do this course?

If you are a young person (10-16 years old) and interested in having skills to sail in a dinghy in a range of conditions, this course is for you.

Build your confidence and develop the skills needed to sail in different directions in moderate conditions.

Pre-course experience: Sailing skills to the standard of Stage 3

Assumed Knowledge: To the standard of Stage 3

Course content: Improved rigging, sailing theory, launching and recovery. Building confidence in a range of sailing techniques on all points of sail and capsize recovery

Ability after course: Able to launch and sail a dinghy on all points of sail or around a triangle in moderate conditions.

Minimum duration: 2-day course

Minimum age: 10 years old. (Over 16s may prefer to learn through the Dinghy Sailing Scheme). See sailing courses called ‘Levels’.
